TL;DR: As a maintainer, I usually just want to reply with Pull requests welcome to most issues filed against my open source projects but that is seen as rude. I will start replying with I'd be happy to review/merge a PR for this. instead.

Pull Requests Welcome

When someone files an issue against one of my open source projects, I often want to encourage them to contribute a fix or improvement. Instead of just closing the issue or leaving it unanswered, I would like to reply with Pull requests welcome. However, I have learned that this phrase can come across as dismissive or rude to some people. It may give the impression that I am not interested in their issue or that I am only interested in contributions from others.

To avoid this misunderstanding, I will start replying with I'd be happy to review/merge a PR for this. instead. This phrasing is more welcoming and shows that I am open to contributions while also expressing my willingness to review and merge pull requests. I hope this change in wording will encourage more people to contribute to my open source projects and foster a more inclusive and collaborative community.

I want to thank all the maintainers of open source projects who take the time to review and merge pull requests. Your work is greatly appreciated and helps make the open source ecosystem thrive.

Cheers.
